North East Event: March and rally in Newcastle

When: Saturday 27 October 2012, assemble at 10:30am
Where: Meeting at the Bigg Market, Newcastle upon Tyne

On the 27 October we expect over a 1000 disabled people to again take to the streets of Newcastle as they did last year to show the coalition government the strength of feeling about the proposed cuts to benefits which threaten the independence of disabled people.

  • Catherine McKinnell, Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury and Newcastle North MP
  • Pat Onions of the Pat’s Petition campaign

  1. I would come but my walking isn’t great and I cant have a mobility scooter where I live and the government says you can only get sheltered housing when yr 55 so I still got a wait to go as well as that council deny my right to a priority as I can walk a bit and the social turned me down for a loan of the scooter so thats m,y reasons for not going but Im with you all the way guys and girls x

  5. I will be going on the London March as that is where I live. I was there last year and did the coalition listen to us then? What makes us believe they will listen now?? They ignore their partners in crime, they only care about themselves and their city buddies. That said I will be marching (wheeling in my case) in London on the 20th October. So hope springs eternal, let us hope and PRAY that they will listen now, as we need a miracle and a compassionate government.
